Vertigo!

An early morning stroll along the local trail (a disused railway line now known as the Monsal Trail) with the camera and tripod led to this view of the Derbyshire Wye from one of the viaducts at Miller's Dale.

Fish were visible to the naked eye, but with an exposure time of more than two minutes all moving things, like traffic on the road, either disappear or, like the water surface, become smoothened out.

  1. Nice shot, but curious as to why you title this "vertigo!" ?

  2. I didn't realise vertigo meant high places

    1. It's the name for the fear experienced when at a high place.

  3. It isn't. It is a medical condition related to the middle ear.

Acrophobia is the fear of heights.

    Blame Hitchcock for the misconception.

    1. Naughty old Hitchcock! Lazy old me for not checking...

"Vertigo is a symptom rather than a condition itself. It's the sensation that you, or the environment around you, is moving or spinning."

Ah well, it was indeed the Hitchcock film that inspired the title...

Maybe I should have used a different title. Perhaps derived from Matthew 4:8-9?

      ;-)
