Intimate...
Here is a lovely place to drift a bushy fly down in the summer. After you catch the resident whopper, under that tangle just below the cobble weir, simply wander up five yards, cross the bridge and you are on Ogden Island, a place of great beauty that brings joy to the beholder on every visit. Henry loves it because here he often finds a pheasant or two to scare into the air.
Of course you'll catch nowt if you look at the place from this vantage point!
Crawling into position downstream from here and keeping hidden is essential for any chance of success...

DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteReally beautiful photo! Your description on how to be able to catch a trout reminds me of one of my favorite spots in a small stream. I had to do the same at that place otherwise the trout would be spooked. So, I started to false cast very cautious. Finally I let the cast follow through. The hart was beating hard and fast. Yes it took the small dry fly! Then I had to play him very hard because there was a pole stuck in the bottom of the hole were he resided. So I got him to hand. Lovely trout! Sad to say when I last went there greedy persons had destroyed the place as a spot for good trout. All the tall pines that gave the stream shade were gone. I haven't been there since and that was in the summer 1995.
Kind greetings,
Mats Olsson
Nice pic RR, are you on 35mm or digital?
ReplyDeleteRegards,
Dave.
Hi Dave
DeleteIt's a bit bigger than 35mm and digital... 8x10 using single sheets of film makes me plan the pictures more.
